Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are construction or earthworks allowed in national parks?

Construction and earthworks in national parks are highly regulated and generally limited to essential infrastructure, maintenance or conservation works. Any proposed activity usually requires approvals from relevant government authorities and must comply with strict environmental guidelines. The goal is to minimise environmental impact and protect natural habitats while allowing necessary works to proceed.

  • What environmental protections apply to works in protected areas?

Protected areas are subject to strict environmental protections to preserve ecosystems, wildlife and cultural heritage. These protections may include limits on vegetation removal, erosion control measures, waterway protection and rehabilitation requirements. Environmental management plans outline how impacts will be minimised during and after works.

  • How is safety managed in state forests and national parks?

Safety management in protected areas involves careful planning to protect workers, visitors and the environment. This may include traffic management, restricted access zones, signage and risk assessments. Working in remote or natural environments requires additional safety considerations, such as emergency planning and communication systems.
